A new display at Tiraz Centre featuring thobes from Palestine’s coastal region, including pieces from villages around Jaffa and the village of Sarafand in the Ramla area. Created during a period of transformation in Palestinian dress traditions. Through their fabrics, threads, motifs, and the ways some were mended and altered over time, the thobes offer glimpses into the lives of the women who made and wore them, and their passage through a critical moment in Palestinian history that is intertwined with the rupture of the Nakba.
